Blogging from a phone

Most of you already know that I recently washed and dried my phone. I tried the rice trick but, unsurprisingly, I was not able to save it and my blackberry has now gone to the place where phones go to die (the phone recycling box at future shop). On the upside, the iPhone I ordered… Continue reading »

Grad Students Curling

OK, so my fellow grad students and I went curling on Tuesday. There were about 11 of us in total only two of which had curled before (the two Canadians). Pretty much everyone else comes from countries where they don`t even have winter. So you can imagine that it was bound to be a little… Continue reading »

Weekend in the CSpot

I guess the weekend technically started with golf at Red Tail Landing on Friday. Conditions were tough for my second round of the year as it was blustery, cool and rainy for the first 4-5 holes. But, it got much nicer after that and turned into an enjoyable round. I think I played relatively well… Continue reading »

(No title)

A nice little hiatus there… So… Have you guys ever heard of the Ig Nobel Prizes? They are given each year in early October — around the time the recipients of the genuine Nobel Prizes are announced — for ten achievements that "first make people laugh, and then make them think." Some of my favorites… Continue reading »

Stellar Stag

Wow, so that was a hell of a great time last weekend wasn't it? It's a bit blurry, but I sure know I had a great time. Special thanks to Chaps for planning everything and everyone else for the stag gift and getting me good and drunk. I am AMAZED that I didn't really have… Continue reading »

Good Bye MacT!

Looks like MacT finally got the boot. I guess girls everywhere are weeping?!? Anyway, obviously he's not the only reason for the Oilers mediocre season and poor finish. After all, the players are somewhat responsible for their own performances. However, obviously the coaching position is one of the obvious and easy changes that can be… Continue reading »

Monthly Update

That's all I'm good for – a monthly update. Anyway, I had a great weekend. The guy party at our place on Saturday was a great time. The guitar hero world tour got some good use! The drum pads look well worked in. Most importantly, it was great to see everyone who came. It had… Continue reading »

A Sense of Impending Doom

1) I like parking in the winter. The lines are covered in snow, which allows you to keep a reasonable distance from the next car. Of course, this means there are less parking spaces. 2) I set a new record in Brick Breaker (the game on my blackberry)… 9300! I only play this while I'm… Continue reading »

Tidbits from Santiago

Santiago is very catholic, so much so that divorce was made legal only 4 years ago. It's not proper for a  young couple to hang out together behind closed doors (in their houses) As a result, the city's parks are TOTALLY overrun by young couples making out. They seem to use a lot of salt… Continue reading »

Santiago so far

OK, so I'm back after a bit of a long hiatus… Probably my longest hiatus ever? The conference ended last Friday and was generally great. This international congress is only held every four years so it's kinda like the olympics (for nerds)… I went to a lot of talks, some I understood and a few… Continue reading »
